Best gifts for outdoorsy women – The practical stuff
Now the thing with gifts, is a lot of the time, although they are nice, they are not what we really need, and they end up just sitting in the cupboard. You don’t want to spend your money on something she won’t use, which is where these first lot of outdoor gifts on the list come in.
1) Lightweight portable camping chair
I’m not recommending this as a gift because I think outdoorsy women aren’t strong and need light gear, I’m recommending it because it’s awesome.
The Trekology portable camping chair weighs in at just over 2 pounds and folds down into a small bag which she can throw in her backpack. Due to its low weight, and the fact that it packs up super small, it’s the perfect companion for not just camping, but hiking as well.
One thing I love about this chair, is that it has a high back. Most that pack up as small as this one are just a flat sitting surface. Not really designed for comfort and ultimate relaxation.
As an outdoorsy women myself, I’m asking my boyfriend for this as a gift for my next birthday.
2) Personalised camping mug
There are plenty of camping mugs on the market, and they make great little gifts. But why not go one step further and personalise it. There are a few brands out there that you can personalise with her name, making it the perfect gift for the outdoorsy type.
There are two mugs in particular I really like:
Description: If she is the camper van type, then this retro camper mug would be the perfect gift. I like the style of this one, with the cute camper van. A bonus is that as well as putting her name on it, you can choose the colour. This one also has the option to come gift wrapped. | Description: This camping cuppa mug from the supreme gift company is a stylish white, with nature green. Just enter her name at the checkout and away you go. |

3) Thermal Travel flask
Thermal travel flasks are made for the outdoors, with the ability to keep drinks warm on those cold days exploring. A lot of them are pretty boring in terms of design, and the ones that do look nice, aren’t very good at being a flask. However, I found some…..
This Ocean Bottle thermal flask is quite stylish, with its simplistic design, and a range of pastel and matte colours to choose from.
It also doubles up as a water bottle, and the top screws off 2 ways, depending on what she is using it for.
It's double wall insulated, leakproof, and dishwasher safe.
Another great thing about this eco-friendly bottle, is made out of recycled material, and money from every purchase goes towards ocean plastic collection. It really does tick all the boxes.
This would make a wonderful gift for the more minimalist, but also stylish outdoorsy women. And while you are at it, why not get her a stylish food flask to go with it. I particularly like the Chilly’s food pots and SHO insulated flask.

4) Thermal Flask part 2
Now, if you simply want to get her the best, then you should go for the Stanley Flask. It boasts superior insulation and is able to keep drinks/food hot or cold for up to 20h.
It also comes in a few colours, and wide range of sizes from 0.75L to 1.9L.
You could also get her the matching food jar flask. It doesn’t keep contents hot for as long as the big boy (up to 7h), but it comes with a spork attached, which in my opinion makes up for it 🙂

5) Rechargeable hand warmers
Did you know that women run a little colder than men? It’s due to hormones, which is why we sometimes have colder hands and feet. Well, I present to you rechargeable hand warmers. Gift her this, and she will never have to suffer cold hands again in the outdoors.
These Ocoopa hand warmers come in a selection of colours, so you can pick her favourite.
It also has different heat levels, so she can adjust it to her situation and coldness level.
6) Outdoor fire pit
Who doesn’t love a fire pit? She probably does. This portable fire pit, made of eco friendly material, is the perfect travel gift as it can be packed away super small, for her to take on her outdoor adventures. She can now have bonfires and barbequeues wherever she goes. Maybe she will take you along with her, for some toasted marshmallows under the stars.
- Easy to assemble
- Easy cleaning
- Comes with a small bag and is lightweight and easy to carry
- Comes with anti-heating gloves
7) Hiking app subscription
Is she a hiker? Then she most likely has a hiking app. Most hiking apps are free to use, but also offer a subscription for more advanced feature.
I have tried a lot of hiking apps, and my favourite is AllTrails. The free version has access to the maps online, and the function to save and create maps. With the pro (subscription) version, she can download maps to use offline, print maps, view 3D maps, get alerts for wrong turns and more.

Unique and fun gifts for outdoorsy women
Looking for an outdoor gift that is a bit more unique, or maybe just something fun that will make her laugh? I’ve got you….
8) SheWee
Don’t laugh, I’m being serious. This nifty little product is the perfect gift for outdoorsy woman. It allows us to pee, splash free, in the great outdoors. It’s ergonomically designed for the ultimate fit, and made of high quality silicone making it foldable, so we can pack it away small and discreetly. Plus she can angle the tube to direct her pee, just like men.
Desperate for a wee on a long car journey, but can’t stop? No problem, she can use the shewee to pee in a bottle. My boyfriend sometimes threatens to do this. Now it’s my turn.
Actually, he bought me my shewee for a birthday gift. Who’s laughing now?
9) The adventure challenge scratch book
This scratch book is such a fun gift idea for solo adventure outdoorsy women. How it works is, she scratches off the square to reveal an adventure or activity, which she then must do. There is space for notes, and adding photos to save those memories.
There are 50 different challenges, so one for almost every weekend of the year.
They are also categorised into adventure type, from outdoors, to travel, to active, or wet adventures.
She will also have the option of picking something more chill and low key, with categories from indoors, to food and snacks, and many more.
I’m planning to buy the couples edition for me and Ollie. I will let you know how it goes.
10) Portable Hammock
I thought long and hard about putting this hammock on the list. It could be the best outdoor gift ever, or it could be completely useless. You really need to think about what kind of outdoor women she is, before buying this gift. If she just likes to hike, then it probably won’t be much use. If she camps a lot or lives the van life, then it could be a lot of fun.
Maybe put out some feelers. Talk to her about hammocks, nonchalantly. See how she responds.
This Covacure hammock comes highly rated. It's portable and lightweight, and has 10ft tree straps.
If she is the camping type, and think she might like some more camping gear, then you might find something on my guide on essentials for wild camping here.
11) Inflatable sofa
If the hammock is a no go, then the inflatable sofa should do the trick. This little thing can go anywhere, from a hike, to the beach and everywhere in between. It’s made of very lightweight material, and how it works is, you sort of swing it around to trap air inside.
- Easy inflation
- Comes in a few colour choices
- Lightweight to pack away and travel with
- Fun
Ultimate outdoor gifts for outdoorsy women
If you are looking to buy her something really special, and you have a more generous budget, then these outdoor gifts are the ones. The ultimate gifts if you were.
12) Inflatable SUP
A stand up paddle board would make the ultimate gift for women that love the outdoors. It’s definitely on the pricier side of gifts, but if you can stretch for it, she will have the most epic adventures. If someone got me one of these as a gift, I would probably cry.
Due to its inflatableness, it can pack up to backpack size, for ease of transportation.
This highly rated Goosehill SUP is suitable for beginner to intermediate level and comes with all the bits you need to get going on the water. Although it comes as standard in a couple of colour options, they offer personalisation to the pattern and design (you need to contact the company to request this). A personalised gift is the best gift right? It also comes with 3 years of quality after care service:
- Customisable pattern
- Professional brand
- Comes with paddle, pump, backpack, fin, repair kit
13) Garmin
Garmin Fenix 7S Pro
Garmin is the ultimate adventure smartwatch. What sport does the partake in? It doesn’t matter, as this Garmin Fenix 7S Pro comes with over 30 built in sports apps. Featuring advanced performance metrics, which will guide her on optimising her output and recovery. If she skis, then a real bonus is it comes with preloaded ski maps.
Don’t you hate when you have no phone signal? Imagine that happening when you are out in the wild, and you can’t find your way home. If you gift her this watch, then she will never get lost (in theory) when outdoors, as it has access to satellite systems for GPS, and a compass. She will also be able to monitor the weather and check her altitude level on this baby.
Not only that, it comes with safety tracking, which will send her location to selected emergency contacts if it detects an incident has happened.
Then of course there is the usual smartwatch features. Contactless payment, music listening, phone alerts and notifications.
Despite all the functions of this watch, there is no need to worry about battery life, as it can keep going for up to 11 days. Or even longer when solar charging is utilised. That’s right. Have you ever heard of any electronics battery lasting for 11 days? Maybe my judgement is skewed because I have an iPhone?
I have this watch, (I bought it as a gift to myself), and I absolutely love it. I tried out the Apple Watch Ultra, and the more expensive Garmin Epix Pro, but this was my favourite.
- Solar Charging
- Built in LED flashlight
- Advanced navigation
- Worldwide Hiking maps and ski maps
There are so many features I haven’t listed, because it will take up too much space, but go and check it out here to find out more.
Garmin Vivo Active 5
If you think she will love a Garmin gift, but don’t want to stretch for the Fenix, then why not settle with the Vivo Active 5. It comes in at about half the price, but it’s still an excellent watch.
Just like the Fenix, it comes with over 30 built in sports tracking, and 11 days of battery life.
The Vivo Active 5 features advanced health metrics, nap detection, and personalised insights on how her body is doing to let her know if she should rest or go all out.
It also comes with a gorgeous AMOLED display.
14) Inflatable Kayak
We are back with the inflatables. A single person kayak would make a great gift for her solo outdoor adventures. Just like the SUP, it can be packed up to backpack size, for her to take wherever she wants with ease. This Hydroforce Kayak is quick and easy to set up, so she can spend more time doing her adventurous thing.
Is she is a tall lady? No problem, as it comes with an adjustable seat, so she can adjust it to her height.
- Pump and paddle included
- Single person
- Adjustable seat
- Quick and easy set up
15) Portable Cadac cooker
Oh how I wish I had a Cadac. With multiple interchangeable cooking surfaces, she can enjoy anything from BBQ grills, to stews, and pizza.
This Cadac Safari Chef 2 Pro is easy to assemble and weighs in at less than 4kg, which might not be suitable for hiking, but it’s perfect for camping.
- Comes with 4 cooking surfaces
- Non-stick
- Carry bag included
While you’re at it, you can get her the Cadac grill brush for easy cleaning, to go with it.
Cozy and luxury gifts for outdoorsy women
Although us outdoorsy women might give of a tough, rolling in the mud type of vibe, we do like to clean up and experience a bit of luxury, which is where the next lot of gifts come on. After all, we do need to refresh and recharge after all those adventures.
16) Blackout eye Mask
Blackout sleep masks aren’t your ordinary sleep masks. They are designed to keep every bit of light out, allowing for a better sleep. As an outdoorsy woman myself, there have been plenty of situations where I needed sleep, but the pesky sun wouldn’t let me….I’m the kind of person that can only sleep in total darkness.
From travels in northern Scandinavia during summer, where the sun doesn’t set, to long car journeys after a weekend full of (exhausting) adventure.
These eye masks from SMUG come in a range of pretty designs and colours, so you can gift her one suited to her style, I mean, just because we are outdoorsy, doesn’t mean we don’t like style.
17) Weighted blanket
Weighted blankets are known for their therapeutic effects, and this weighted blanket from Kudd.ly would make a perfect gift for the outdoorsy women who live the van life. It’s made of super soft temperature regulating fleece for maximum coziness. It has even been voted the number 1 weighted blanket in the UK.
For the ultimate in relaxation, you could get her this Therapeutic weighted blanket, which uses deep pressure touch, to provide relief from anxiety and stress.
- Uses deep pressure touch to provide relief from anxiety and stress.
- Suitable for all seasons
- Comes with 2 sided duvet cover - one side is warm cosy fleeced lined, the other cooling bamboo.
- Available in different sizes.
You know what’s really cosy? A blanket hoodie, and Kudd.ly do these as well. They have a whole range of fun colours and designs to choose from.
- Oversized - One size fits all
- Soft and cosy sherpa fleece interior
- Machine washable
- Lots of colours to choose from
18) Cosy Socks
Now who doesn’t like a cosy sock? I do, and I suspect she does too. Cosy socks are the perfect gift if she is the outdoorsy van life type. Having spent part of the winter travelling around in the camper van in the UK, my cosy socks were my haven. I looked forwards to getting into them and being snuggly every evening.
These cozy slipper socks are fleece lined, which provides the ultimate level of warmth.
19) Merino Wool socks
I know socks might seem like a boring gift, but not if they are Merino Wool (or the cosy socks). If she is the outdoorsy type, she will likely be very happy with anything Merino Wool as a gift. If you know, you know.
These are also a more practical gift than the cosy socks mentioned above, as she can wear them when out hiking, or doing whatever outdoorsy adventure she is into.
Here are a couple of options of Merino wool socks that come highly rated. The colourful ones are more fun and gift like, but the pink ones have a higher Merino Wool percentage. So you need to decide which balance you want:
£12.99 | £14.99 |
20) Warm thermal hat
If she is outdoorsy, she probably gets a cold head sometimes, so you can solve that problem by gifting her a warm cosy thermal hat. There are so many hats out there on the market, and when there is too much choice, it can make things harder.
Never fear, I have narrowed down to some which not only look good, but are also designed for the outdoorsy type:
Description: | Description: |

- Soft feather weight micro fleece lining
- Cute pompom
- 3 colour options
- Heatweaver thermal lining - 3.4 tog rating

21) Neom Candle
Not much makes me happier than receiving a good candle as a gift. I’m not talking any candle though. I want the good stuff, and so might she. Neom is a hyper luxury wellness fragrance company. Known for their candles and essential oils, I sometimes get myself something from Neom, you know, a gift to me from me. They have happiness scents, sleep scents, calm scents, productivity, focus scents….you get the picture.
But what does luxury candles have to do with being outdoorsy you ask?
So, after spending a lot of the time being rough and rugged outdoors, it’s very nice to come home and rejuvenate with some luxury. Well, I like to anyway.
When I told Ollie how much I have spent on single candles before, he was mortified (this is the brand in question). Don’t panic, I’m not suggesting you gift her the big expensive ones (although, you can if you want). They also make travel sized candles, at a fraction of the cost of their main ones, which she can then take on all her adventurous travels.
If you aren’t sure which scent to pick, you can get her a travel sized multipack gift set, which might even be better, so she can pick and choose the scent based on what her mood is.
Description: This one has an uplifting breezy citrus smell, with mandarin, ylang ylang and jasmine. | Description: This is a Christmas gift set, however, I own some of their Christmas sets and love the smell, so use it all year around. |

22) This Works
I’m a huge fan of this brand. They started off with a sleep spray, and grew into all things sleep scent related. From oils, to moisturisers, body wash, creams, roll ons, candles etc. But let’s go back to their signature. The sleep spray. I have tried various other brands of sleep spray, and this one is the best. When I lie my head down on my pillow sprayed with it, I find myself going into a sleepy daze, then next thing I know, it’s morning.
Whenever I use their sleep body cocoon moisturiser in the evening, my boyfriend also has a great sleep. It’s that good.
Outdoorsy women need good sleep to give them the energy for all their adventures, so why not give her the gift of sleep. If she is extra special, you could gift her the sleep spray and a black out eye mask combo. They also have a travel sized sleep spray with a stress check roll on.
Pros:
| Pros:
|
| £10.00 |
- 75 ml
- Infused with Lavender and chamomile
- Due set with deep sleep spray and stress reducing roll on.
- Travel sized
Funny enough, the first time I tried This Works, was when I received it as a gift.
You don’t have to go for the sleep spray though, as they have a range of other fantastic products, which make perfect stocking fillers.
Best books and journals for outdoorsy women
Books are quite a common gift idea in general, and one might even say boring. Not these ones. Gift her one of these books or journals, and you will be sure to inspire her on her adventures into the outdoors.
23) The Salt Path
The Salt Path is one of my favourite books. Raynor Winn tells the story of how her and her husband lost their home and livelihood, whilst at the same time, her husband Moss was diagnosed with a terminal degenerative neurological disease. With no money or home, they set off to walk the South West Coast Path, camping along the way.
24) Wild Swimming
My boyfriend actually bought me this Wild Swimming book as a gift, and I was not disappointed. He listened. It showcases 300 places you can go for dips and swims in the rivers, lakes and waterfalls of Britain.
25) Lake District walks to viewpoints
Another great gift from my boyfriend was the top 10 walks to viewpoints in the Lake District National Park. One thing I particularly love about this book, is it’s pocket sized, so it can come out with me on the trail.
26) Adventure Journal
Journalling has sort of become all the rage these days. Fashionable if you will. But there is more to it than that. I was never the diary type growing up, and I never thought I would be one of those people who ‘journals’. But one day I decided to see what all the fuss was about, and now it has become a ritual.
My journal comes with me on all my travels, and I love writing in it everyday. Documenting anything from my thoughts and feelings, to my goals, and just simply recapping the adventures I’m on.
This adventure journal comes in hardback, which will protect it from all the wear and tear that can be involved with being outdoors and travelling. It would make a great gift for her to document all those outdoor adventures. It is A5 sized, which I think is the perfect size, with the right balance between being small enough to fit in a backpack, but not too small that you can’t write as much.
27) Hiking Journal log book
Does she like to hike? This hiking log book is specific to hiking women. So she can record everything about the trails she walks, from all the practical bits, to her thoughts and feelings. I also love the simplicity of the design.
Or you could try this hiking journal which has similar prompts for recording her hike. It’s a bit more colourful on the outside, if the outdoorsy woman you are buying a gift for doesn’t like simple.
Both come with journaling prompts.
Final thoughts on the best gifts for outdoorsy women
I was quite strict with this list, and only included the things that would make the perfect gift, but also be useful, and equally not be boring.
I will be reviewing this list from time to time, and adding to it anything else I find that would make the perfect gift for her outdoor adventures. Basically anything that I find that I want.
I didn’t include outdoor clothing on the list (except socks and hat) because that’s a trickier gift to buy, as you will need to know her size etc. However, if you know her size and think she would like some, then you can find some recommendations in my guide on things to wear when hiking in the cold.
